In their quest to emulate the republican president, Dr Edgar C. Lungu, by keeping fit and promoting a healthy living, Gatbro workers at the weekend turned up in numbers for an end of year football tournament held at the OYDC Zambia – Sports Development Centre.

The tournament comprised of 12 teams which were made of warehouse staff, guards, loaders, office staff and merchandise staff among others.

Tournament manager Augustine Mulenga, who is also Warehouse Stock controller disclosed that the essence of the tournament was to motivate staff to keep fit even in times when the nation and the world at large are battling with the coronavirus.

“It was fun to see more staff take part in our football tournament, as you know we want to continue with the spirit of promoting healthy living just like our head of state president Lungu. This is why we organized this tournament here at OYDC” he said.

After the tournament outstanding teams and players walked away with some trophies while team Rhodes reigned supreme.

In his closing remarks, tournament manager Mulenga encouraged staff members to continue with the spirit of loving each other even outside work stating that sport does unify people.
“Congratulations to all the winners, lets us all embrace love among ourselves even when we are not on duty. We need to follow the footsteps of Gatbro. We look for to more of such tournament next year” he added.
