Sports Minister EMMANUEL MULENGA says his ministry is engaging the ministry of health on the possible return of fans to stadia.

MULENGA says it is the desire of the ministry to see fans in the stadium, but not at the expense of their lives looking at the current COVID-19 scenario in the country.

He says it is in Government’s jurisdiction to protect citizens of the country by instituting measures that involve among others the suspension of football fans from the stadium.

The Minister was speaking after the gracing yesterday’s 2021 ABSA Cup final that saw Lusaka dynamos Beat Zesco United 3 goals to one on post-match penalties.
MULENGA said fans will only be allowed back into the stadia once the ministry of health says it is safe for them to to do so.

The Minster also urged the sports fraternity in the country to get vaccinated.

He said it is important that sportsmen and women get vaccinated so that they can reduce the transmission of Covid-19 among players and fans.
