Zambia Police Not Allowed To Fine Anyone Without A Mask, Says Kampyongo

Police officers are not allowed to fine or arrest anyone found not wearing a facemask, Minister of
Home Affairs Stephen Kampyongo has said.

He told police officers today to desist from arresting and charging those not wearing face masks in public as their role is only to warn those not adhering to the set measures put in place to prevent further spread of COVID-19.

He said police should also sensitize people about the need to wear face masks, warning that any Police officer who will be found charging the K750 fine on those not wearing face masks will be dealt with immediately.
